Clark Earns NJCAA First Team All-American Honors

Cheyenne Clark, a player on the Mohawk Valley Community College women's basketball team, was named to the 2016-17 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Women's Basketball First Team All-American. A 2017 graduate from Deptford, N.J., Clark has signed an NCAA Division I scholarship with Stony Brook University.

During her two years at MVCC, Clark accrued numerous awards including NJCAA Region 3 Athlete of the Week; All-Mountain Valley Conference First Team; NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Year; NJCAA Region 3 Championship All-Tournament Team; and NJCAA Region 3 Tournament All-Tournament Team.

She also holds the national record for rebounds in a game (38) and the MVCC record for points in a game (41); is the national leader in rebounds per game (17.6); was a two-year starter; and was team captain for the 2016-17 school year. Her overall record as a Hawk was 56-13, and she averaged 19.1 points per game in her sophomore year.

Clark joins several other recent MVCC women's basketball players who received the All-American recognition including Africa Williams (2016, Third Team); Shaniece Brown (2013, First Team); Isayra Diaz (2011, First Team); and Domonique Washington (2010, First Team). Clark was the second player in two years to sign an NCAA Division I scholarship. Williams signed with Wagner College after graduating last year.
