The MVCC Men's Basketball team dropped a hard fought 75-72 battle to Herkimer College in the Varsity Gym on Wednesday night.
The teams traded the lead or tied the game 9 different times, including six times in the second half as the Hawks missed a three pointer at the buzzer to try to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Herkimer jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead before the Hawks went on a 14-2 run to take a 5 point advantage. The teams went into the locker room at halftime tied at 38 with both squads biggest lead being 7 points in the first half.
MV battled back from a big nine point deficit in the second half to tie the game at 68 before the General's Patrick Dorrian hit a big three point basket that put Herkimer ahead for the rest of the game. The teams traded free throws over the final minute before the Hawks game tying effort hit the glass and fell short of going in the basket.
