Phil Carr is well on his way to earning the Sixth Man Award for the MVCC men’s basketball team as he has played key roles in the Hawks’ success this season.
Last week was not different as he helped the Hawks to victories over Adirondack Community College and Columbia-Greene Community College. His performance earned him the honor of being named MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 9.
Carr averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in the two games, and remains a dominant force for the Hawks during the second semester of play. On the season, he is averaging 8.2 points while hitting an amazing 57.3 percent of his shots from the field. This includes 33.3 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. On the boards, Carr is averaging 7.2 rebounds.
Car is a freshman Liberal Arts major, who graduated from Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn.
