Onondaga Rallies in Second Half to Defeat Mohawk Valley, 59–53

WATERTOWN, N.Y. — The third quarter lifted Onondaga Community College past Mohawk Valley Community College, 59–53, in the Region III Semi-Finals. 

Mohawk Valley opened the game with energy, taking an early 18–13 lead after the first quarter behind strong work on the boards. The Hawks continued to grind inside in the second quarter and held a narrow 30–28 advantage at halftime.

The game turned in the third quarter when Onondaga found its rhythm offensively. The Lazers outscored Mohawk Valley 22–9 in the period to take a 50–39 lead entering the final quarter.

Mohawk Valley attempted a late push in the fourth, holding Onondaga to just nine points, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Takyla Vaughn paced the Hawks with 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Shayla Baker recorded a double-double of her own with 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Leniyah Leslie added 10 points and four steals.

The Hawks finish the 2025-2026 campaign with an overall record of 13-10.
