MVCC Men's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season with National Qualifiers at Utica

The Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) men's track and field team opened its outdoor season at Utica University with several strong performances and national qualifying marks. The meet marked the team's first outdoor competition of the year and an important step toward the NJCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships, which MVCC will host for the fourth consecutive year in early May.

Freshman Ayden DeBose placed third in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 4 and one-half inches, earning a national qualifying mark.

Freshman Mason Beattie competed in the throwing events and placed seventh in the javelin with a throw of 39.70 meters. He also qualified for nationals in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.06 meters.

On the track, freshman Jullian Jalowiec qualified for nationals in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1 minute, 1.01 seconds. Freshman Isaiah Reyes also met national qualifying standards in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 23.40 seconds.

The Hawks will look to build on this early success as they continue their outdoor season next weekend, April 10th at RPI.
