MVCC Women's Track and Field Finishes Seventh Nationally, Highlights Championship Weekend with Multiple All-American Performances

Mohawk Valley Community College delivered a strong performance at the NJCAA Division III National Championships in Utica, New York, finishing seventh overall out of 24 teams competing at Proctor High School and Mohawk Valley Community College. The weekend was highlighted by multiple All-American performances and a national championship title.

Freshman Chennia Locke captured the NJCAA Division III National Championship in the 100-meter hurdles, capping off an outstanding first collegiate season. Locke entered the national meet after earning both National Athlete of the Week and Region III Athlete of the Week honors, along with the Region III title in the event. Her national championship performance established her among the top hurdlers in the country and marked a major achievement for the program.

Freshman Jaleea Garner earned two All-American honors with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash and a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash. During the semifinal rounds, Garner broke the school record in both events, posting a time of 12.49 seconds in the 100m and improving her own 200m school record with a time of 25.66 seconds.

Sophomore Ava White earned All-American honors for the second consecutive season after finishing second in the pole vault with a mark of 2.97 meters. White concludes her MVCC career as a two-time All-American and leaves a lasting impact on the program through her consistency, leadership, and success at the regional and national levels.

Freshman Jazmine Brown also earned All-American honors with a fourth-place finish in the shot put, making a significant contribution to the team's national championship performance.

MVCC's success at the national meet showcased the continued growth of the women's track and field program, highlighted by national-level performances across multiple events and a strong overall team finish. The Hawks will continue to build towards another successful season for the 2026-2027 year.
